Waste Service Discount

Dear Neighbors,

Happy New Year! We hope 2023 is off to a good start for everyone.

Recently, some community members have reached out to the Pepper Ridge Civic Association asking if we could participate in a community discount program with Evergreen Waste Services. We spoke with a representative from Evergreen and they offered the Pepper Ridge community the following opportunity.

Currently we have 68 community members that use Evergreen. In order to receive the discount we need an additional 32 households to contract with Evergreen. The incentives for the 32 new households (not the current 68) are as follows:

  • Evergreen will waive the new bin delivery charge of $40.
  • Evergreen will charge new customers $96 per quarter for recycle and trash or $120 per quarter for recycle, trash, and yard waste. This will be for 6 months or until we reach the 32 additional homes.

Once we achieve the goal of 32 additional homes, Evergreen will give all Pepper Ridge customers a rate of $87 per quarter for recycle and trash or $111 per quarter for recycle, trash, and yard waste.

Evergreen comes every Monday.  The only time they will not come on a Monday is if Christmas or New Year’s Day falls on a Monday. They will remove one bulk item per week at no additional charge.

Community members will need to contact Evergreen directly at 302-635-7055 to sign up. The incentives started on January 23.

Have a question? Please submit it through our contact form or on Facebook on the Pepper Ridge Civic Association public page or the Pepper Ridge Neighbors private group.

Thank you!

New Online Payment Option for Dues

We’ve had many requests to add an online payment option for Pepper Ridge Civic Association annual dues. Annual dues are very important as they provide the funds for snow plowing and maintenance of the neighborhood common areas.

This new online option allows you to make a credit card payment or pledge to deliver a cash or check payment to the PRCA treasurer. There is a small convenience fee ($1.99) to the user for a credit card payment and no fee to make a pledge. When you make a pledge, you will be notified of where to deliver your payment.

After completing the transaction, you will receive an email receipt and the treasurer will notified of your payment or pledge.

You can find the payment link on the Annual Dues page.

Polling Place Change Due to Redistricting

Pepper Ridge was assigned to a different state House of Representatives district following the 2010 census. The redistricting was finalized on October 28, 2021. View the final districts.

Pepper Ridge is now included in the 21st House District. In addition to changing our representation in the state legislature, our polling place has changed.

Polling Place Change

The new polling place is now in effect, so make sure you go to the right location for the Primary Election on September 13, 2022, and the General Election on November 8, 2022.

Pepper Ridge residents now vote at Linden Hill Elementary School on Skyline Drive. (Our previous polling place was St. Philips Lutheran Church on Limestone Road.)

Registered voters should have received a new polling place card. If you didn’t, you can still vote. From the State of Delaware Department of Elections Frequently Asked Questions page:

Do I have to show my Polling Place Card to vote?

  • No, but you will be asked to show ID.
  • Your Polling Place Card is an ID. If it is not current, poll workers will ask you for proof of address.

August 2022 Newsletter

Dear Neighbors,

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. As we start heading into fall we need to address some community items.

2022-23 Civic Association Dues

Thank you to everyone that has submitted their 2021-22 civic association dues. If you haven’t had the chance, you can include it with this year’s dues. For anyone that is new to the community the association dues are $40 per household, payable to PRCA. Details of where to send dues was included in the paper newsletter distributed to residents in late August. If you need a reminder of where to send your dues payment, please contact us.

These dues are needed to continue the upkeep of the common areas and snow removal in our community. Without the participation of all our community members, we are unable to pay for these services.

Annual Pepper Ridge Civic Association Meeting

Our PRCA meeting will be held on Saturday, September 10, at 10 a.m. (rain date: September 17, same time) at our Pepper Ridge entrance sign. Please bring your lawn chair. We will be voting in new officers – president; vice president; treasurer; secretary. We also have openings for district representatives which include about 24 homes each. We will be happy to provide more information regarding open positions at the meeting.

Miscellaneous

We will be posting information on the PRCA Facebook page and here on our website. If you are unable to attend the meeting and would like to volunteer for one of the open positions, please reach out to us on one of our sites.

Snow Plowing Today

The plowing company will be out at around noon today to do a pass through. If it has stopped snowing, they will plow curb to curb and clean up. If it is still snowing, they will plow a lane and  come back and do curb to curb after the snow stops.

Reminder: snow plowing is paid for by our annual dues. If you haven’t paid your $40 dues for 2021-2022 and need to know where to send them, please send us a message through the contact form.
